Admission to the college is done as per Calcutta University regulation and also as per Government Rule, in order of merit and availability of seats.

• Students applying for Honours and General courses in this college must make sure that they have secure pass marks in all subjects in their previous examinations.
• Students applying for Economics and Statistics (Honours) must have to secure pass marks in Mathematics.
• All students are required to join the computer-training course conducted by WEBEL in the college and within college timings.
• 3 percent seats are reserved for Persons with Special Needs
• Reservation of seats for SC, ST students
• Accident Insurance is available for the students
• Special scholarship facilities available :
  • Free studentship (offered to SC,ST,OBC, BPL, PH students) by the College under UGC Remedial Coaching Centre.
  • Merit scholarship (by the State Government)
  • Minority scholarship (by the State Government)
  • Merit cum Means Scholarship (by the State Government)
  • Sports scholarship (offered to those showing excellence in University level Sports Competition).
  • NCC and NSS is compulsory for the students of General Course and optional for Honours Students.

• A canddate who has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent Examination is eligible to seek admission to the 1st Year of the 3 year B.A./B.Sc./B.Com (Honours/General) Course of Studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks not being less than 100.
• Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Vocational Examination conducted by West Bengal Council of Vocational Education and Training shall be eligible to seek admission to the B.A. General 1st Year Course of Studies taking the subjects of Humanities only.
• Candidates having passed the H.S. Examination in Business and Commerce shall be eligible for admission to the B.Com General 1st Year Course of Studies.
• Candidates who have passed H.S. Examination in Science Stream are eligible for admission to B.A./B.Com Honours and General Courses.
• Candidates opting for Practical based subjects are required to get passed both in theoretical and practical papers at the H.S. Examination.
• A candidate shall be allowed to take up Honours in Economics if he/she has passed in Mathematics at the H.S. Examination (10+2) conducted by the West Bengal Council of H.S. Education or its equivalent examination in Mathematics/Business Mathematics. Students who have passed Business Economics including Business Mathematics in H.S. (10+2) level from West Bengal Council of H.S. Education are also eligible for admission in the Honours Course in Economics.
• No candidate shall be allowed for admission after a lapse of more than 3 years from the year of passing previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognized regular Course of Studies after passing the previous qualifying examination.
• For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by the candidate. Marks in compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate marks. If the subject Environmental Science is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, it may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks.
• • A candidate taking up Honours Course in a subject must have obtained :
    • A minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
    • 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination.
    • 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject in his/her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied.
  • However, candidates belonging to the Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe Community or Physically Challenged taking up Honours Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examination, as the case may be.
• Related Subjects :
  • For B.Com Honours Course in “Accounting and Finance “ or “Marketing”, the word “Subject” or “related subject” shall mean the following: Accountancy, Business Economics including Business Mathematics, Business Organisation, Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Business Studies, Office Practice and Secretarial, Financial Accounting, Elements of Cost Accountancy and Auditing, Book Keeping, Commerce, Cost Accountancy & Principle of Management.
  • Education : The subject Psychology / Philosophy / Mathematics / Sociology / Economics / Political Science / History be treated as related subject.
  • Philosophy: the subject Psychology be treated as related subject.

Honours Courses

• General Candidates : 45% in Subject or allied subject , 50% in aggregate
• S.C. / S.T. : 40% in subject or allied subject , 40 % in aggregate & pass mark in all subjects.

General Courses (Pass mark in all subjects is obligatory.)

• Aggregate will be calculated as per the Total of Best of 4 subjects. ( Environmental Studies / Environmental Education will not be calculated, However If the subject “Environmental Science” is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks , it may be taken into account for determining the aggregate marks)
• Candidates passing from CBSE through PATRACHAR VIDYALAYA are not eligible to seek admission.
